Note: If you are on a budget AND have plenty of time this may be a legitimate way to travel to JFK. However please keep in mind JFK is a very big airport with several terminals and you need to know where you are going in time if you are catching a connecting flight. So give yourself plenty of extra time. The rail road - shuttle transportation option is defenitely not the way to go if you are on a time constraint.
